short statured adults

Recently I've become aware again of the prevalence of height discrimination in this country. (I thought it was just me... ) Speaking with others who are closer to average height than I am (I'm 4'11") made me aware of just how widespread, accepted and ignored this caveman problem is. Just another way for people to feel automatically superior, just like any other elitism like race, gender, weight, age, etc., etc. However, there does seem to be a general consensus that discriminating against "short people" is more okay than other crimes of discrimination. In fact there are only 2 US states that have written height or weight discrimination into their equal rights laws. Since I am shorter than most people I don't even notice when someone else is considered "short" if they are taller than me, but a friend of mine who is around 5'5" recently went on a rant about how he has been condescended to, ignored, looked over and discriminated against. It was news to me that someone so tall could be a victim of what I go through every day. And so my next post will be on this subject that shouldn't be a subject... but for now I am going to eat lasagna.

Perceived Intelligence

Is intelligence all perception? An article by Joan Raymond (Newsweek Jan. 2008) refers to an interesting subject and starts with this paragraph:
"Are men smarter than women? No. But they sure think they are. An analysis of some 30 studies by British researcher Adrian Furnham, a professor of psychology at University College London, shows that men and women are fairly equal overall in terms of IQ. But women, it seems, underestimate their own candlepower (and that of women in general), while men overestimate theirs. Furnham talks to NEWSWEEK's Joan Raymond about his findings and why perceived IQ matters."
Here is the full article:

If you use your imagination, or recent memory for that matter, it's easy to see how this misperception can affect personal interaction between genders on a daily basis. Why would a person listen to another's opinions or ideas with real interest when the other's intelligence is assumed to be inferior? And how could a person ever prove their equality or even superiority if the assumption is that they are inferior? The stress of being treated as a lesser person would be enough to cause one to eventually react emotionally, thereby "proving" to the "superior" person that they were right all along. I could also add that a person who assumes superiority would not want to investigate the possibility that they may be wrong about their assumption... Happy Reading!

KGB Psyops from the horse's mouth

KGB Psyops from the horse's mouth

Here is an eye opener that was pointed out to me recently by someone whom I have a great deal of respect for and who doesn't subscribe to wild conspiracy theories. What amazes me is that it's the first time I had heard of this interview. The implications are exceedingly dramatic, and should have set off alarms in every household in America... unless, of course, it's working...

Blasphemy is mind blowing

It absolutely floors me that people will twist their religion to blaspheme their own God. They proclaim His name and then use His name to behave in a way that is completely contradictory to the religion they are so vehemently spouting about. It is obvious that it is quite against GOD to subjugate females, or anyone for that matter, to treat them with disrespect in any way, to treat them as inferior in any way, to not honor them as God's Creations. I find it incredibly arrogant for those who claim God's name (Christian, Jew or Muslim) to decide to have dominion over His people that He created in His own image, and I pray for those who are blind enough to actually believe that it's okay or dull witted enough to not see through this blasphemous manipulation which results in the destruction of society on every level!

Galatians 3:28-29

28
There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise.

I found this post by Anne Graham Lotz, in fact I found the book below and this post on the same day which must be God's will because usually I have a hard time finding anything at all on the subject, never mind posts that mirror my own thoughts. Happy reading and God Bless you.

Bible Crystal Clear on Male-Female Equality

The Bible states that in the very beginning of the human race God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:27-28) In other words, the Biblical record is clear: God created men and women equal. Period. Dominion over everything was given to the woman as well as to the man. The woman was not created inferior to the man; nor was the man greater than the woman.

However, when sin entered the human race, one of the consequences was that men and women became separated from God. And that basic broken relationship distorted the Divine order in many ways, one of which was that men began to rule over women (Genesis 3:16).

A vast variety of religions have been established in a vain attempt to reach God…to bridge the gap between God and man that sin opened up. But the attempts have been futile…man has remained a sinner, separated from God. And this sinful state has been very evident in the way women have been treated throughout human history by various religions.

Religion down through the ages has been hard on women in general. From ancient times when their babies were sacrificed to the gods, to Greek times when they were used as prostitutes in the temples, and to a lesser degree, in modern day practices where women are discriminated against or oppressed, the implied message has seemed to be clear: Women are second-class citizens, objects of scorn or sex or service. Generally speaking, they have not been highly valued in religious circles…nor in the cultures those religions influence… until Jesus came.

God Himself elevated the status of women forever when He chose to send His own Son, Jesus Christ, to be born of a virgin. The words and actions of Jesus underscored His elevated opinion of women, as did the early church that was established in His name following His return to heaven:
His first miracle was performed in response to a plea from His mother (John 2:1-11).
His first revelation of Himself as Messiah was to a woman (John 4:25- 26).
His greatest miracle was performed at the request of two women (John 11:1-44).
His death was memorialized by a woman (John 12:1-8).
Women were included in His expanded group of disciples (Mark 15:41). Women stayed with Him throughout His crucifixion, even after the men had left (Matthew 27:55-56).
Women observed His burial (Matthew 27:61).
Following His resurrection, He appeared first to a woman (John 20:1- 16).
He commissioned women as the very first evangelists (Matthew 28:1- 10; John 20:17).
Women were included in the group of disciples who met daily for prayer after the ascension of Jesus (Acts 1:14).
Ancient prophecy was fulfilled when the Spirit of God was given equally to men and women at Pentecost (Acts 2:17).
Women were among the very first “believers” or “Christians” who made up the early church (Acts 5:14; Acts 8:12; 17:4, 12).
The first church in Europe was begun with a group of women and actually met in the home of a woman (Acts 16:13-15).
The early church was staffed by many women (Romans 16:12, Philippians 4:3).
At least one early church was co-led by a woman (1 Corinthians 16:19).

The very fact that the Bible goes out of its way to carefully record all of the above reveals the intentionality of God’s purpose to reestablish the position of women to that of equality with men. His Son, Jesus Christ, not only bridged the gap between God and man through His death on the Cross that made atonement for man’s sin, He removed all barriers including that of gender, race, and nationality.

This was confirmed by the apostle Paul when he stated, There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ then you are… heirs according to the promise

And the real translation?

When the Bible was translated from Aramaic into Greek, were the translators careful about how they did it? Or did they let their culture and their prejudices guide how the translation went? Floyd D. Braggs explores these issues in BETTER OFF BORN DEAD. He uses the book of Ecclesiastes, which is translated from Greek and was apparently written by King Solomon. However, translated from the original Hebrew, the name of the book was Qoheleth, which is, according to Strong's Concordance, a feminine word. Braggs points out when Ecclesiastes was written Solomon wasn't alive, so it had to be someone else who wrote it. He comes to the conclusion that it was King David's daughter and Solomon's sister, Tamar, who was the author. Reading Ecclesiastes from a female point of view changes the entire meaning of this book of the Bible. Tamar is showing her anger at the way women are being treated by men in her culture.

Braggs discusses the early Catholic Church and how the church wished to keep women subjugated to men. The church was very much against the common members of the church reading the Bible at all. They preferred to tell the people what it said rather than have them read it for themselves and see it differently than they had always been told. As a result, the first translators were killed for their efforts.

As a woman, it was sheer joy to read another version of Ecclesiastes. It was pleasurable to find out that 3,000 years ago, Tamar could show her anger at men for their desire to dominate women. Bragg also uses the scriptures in Genesis to show that God had no intention for men to dominate women, but for men and women to be partners. It was the original translators who put women in a position lower than that of men. Tamar, being a Qoheleth, was a female preacher, yet today in many churches, women are forced to be silent according to many ministers' understanding of the Bible. This is a must read for anyone interested in the Christian religion and the position of women in the church. It is a true eye-opener.
